In-House Attorney Drive
In 2015, over 180 in-house attorneys at area companies raised $110,000 to help Greater Boston Legal Services represent people who need civil legal aid. Greater Boston Legal Services, in turn, continued its critical work fighting for access to life-saving medications, defending young students from unfair suspension, supporting survivors of domestic violence, and protecting parents’ employment rights at the birth or adoption of a child. Our legal work is closely coordinated with our community partners, which include Rosie’s Place, Project Hope, HomeStart, City Life/Vida Urbana and the Chinese Progressive Association.
How Much Should I Give?
Typical gifts range from $150 - $1,000. Here’s how you can help an individual or family facing one of the most challenging situations of their lives:
- $1,000 enables a GBLS attorney to represent an abuse victim in divorce and custody proceedings, where she will obtain the income, housing and legal freedom for herself and her children;
- $500 funds representation of an elderly person to access medication and health care;
- $250 helps a homeless family obtain emergency shelter.
Credit card donations can be made below and grant recommendations to your donor-advised fund can be made online here. Checks made payable to Greater Boston Legal Services can be mailed to GBLS c/o: Lauren Shryne, Greater Boston Legal Services, 197 Friend Street, Boston, MA 02114.
